Did you know…
You don’t have to live with leaking urine, painful sex, chronic constipation, or many other symptoms related to pelvic floor dysfunction?

Our pelvic organs rest on a layer of connective tissue and muscles often referred to as the pelvic floor. These tissues can become injured or dysfunctional just like any other area of our body, and they can also be rehabbed just like any other area.

Urinary frequency, urgency, leakage, and even UTIs and UTI-like symptoms can be caused or worsened by pelvic floor dysfunction. Similarly, itching, irritation, yeast-like symptoms can also be related to pelvic floor dysfunction.

Pelvic floor dysfunction can contribute to pain during sexual activity, changes in libido, difficulty reaching climax, and erectile dysfunctions. These problematic symptoms can all improve with pelvic physical therapy, restoring relational intimacy.

Changes to bowel and bladder with advancing age are a leading contributor to falls and placement in assisted living facilities. Exercise can prevent or reverse age related pelvic deconditioning, and management strategies can significantly improve quality of life.

Pregnancy and childbirth produce changes to the pelvis that commonly result in bowel, bladder, and sexual function changes. Pelvic PT can help with pain and dysfunction before and after birth, and can assist in developing a birth plan to minimize the risk of complications.

Although these issues are not often discussed, they are common and experienced by people of all ages and genders. Compassionate care is available.
